I’m Guillermo Blasco, I design and build AI systems, and also make candles.
I’ve loved building software solutions for as long as I can remember, and wrote my first program when I was 15 years old, just when I could get my hands on a computer at the school library. This first program was written in Pascal and helped me do my math homework. What better way to understand maths than to write a program that does it for you?
The only thing I loved more than computers was building tech teams. I've been lucky enough to lead teams of engineers and designers at few startups at Barcelona. I've always believed that the best products are built by interdisciplinary teams, with a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives. And those were the teams I built.
A strong learning I took from my time at startups was that the biggest challenge is bridging the gap between technology and business. I've always been passionate about understanding the business side of things, and then translating that into technical requirements. I believe that the best products are built when you understand the business (and human) problem you're solving.
Today, I'm cofounder of Vento Barcelona, a company that designs candles and deco; cofounder of Aura Candles, a factory that produces artisan candles for other brands; and founder of Mankind Technologies, a company that designs and builds AI systems. A wholesome mix of creativity and innovative technology.
